Ch 2

As the fighting in the fleet began to diminish, the remainder began it's assault on Typhon IV. The 1st, 45th, and 201st infantry regiments spearheaded the assault. Thousands of orbital insertion pods shot through the atmosphere like rain. Each pod impacted with the planet with an explosive impact. The pods then opened and out came the hardened marine veterans. These men had seen the face of war a thousand times, but they were not prepared for what waited for them on the planet's surface. As the marines made planet fall they were immediatly assaulted by a horde of deamons. The beasts were far more diverse and came in all shapes and sizes armed with a slue of different weapons. One of these weapons would become infamous. The weapon eventually earned an official name, and was soon dubbed by Naval Intelligence as "Soulreapers". However troopers in the confed military started calling them "screamers". The screamer was a strange weapon. It looked organic, like a limbed tube. It fired out a cloud like beam, which on comntact kills a man instantly by tearing his soul out of his body. It is a painful way to go as the soul is torn from the body and sent straight to Hell.

Dante's Inferno

The year is 2983 AD. Mankind has spread to the stars, and a galaxy wide government has been established known as The Confederation of Man. The Confederate space has experienced many years of relative peace, however she has experienced many long and bloody wars, as insurrectionist plot to overthrow the government. Unknown to those who fought in these wars, these conflicts would soon be paled in comparison to the war which would soon engulf all of humanity. On the planet of Typhon IV, a research team funded by the Judas Corporation, began experiments which revolved around experimental faster than light travel using inter-dimensional portals. There was an accident during the tests. The portals which the scientists were experimenting on worked successfully, but when the portals came online all contact with the research facility was lost. Soon after all contact was lost with the planet. An advanced scouting team was sent to investigate the events. The scouting ship, the CSS Mahan, made contact with the planet. Upon contact the crew sent out an SOS distress signal. The message included a description of creatures which seemed to materialize onto the ship. After receiving the distress beacon, It was clear that the planet had been lost. The Confederacy responded quickly. An entire warfleet consisting of 12 Redemption class war-cruisers, 20 Virginia class light cruisers, and over 80 Stuart class frigates, entered the system. Like the Mahan, The fleet was immediately attacked by the strange creatures. The entire fleet was caught by surprise, however a quick thinking engineer was able to adjust the frequency of the shields aboard the CSS Richmond. The modified shields stopped the unknown enemy from further teleportations to the ship. Word was quickly spread to the other ships, and the numberless enemy was cut off from there beachheads. The remaining beasts were dealt with by vengeful marines and security forces.
